1. Explore Jesmond Dene

If you’re looking for a relaxed day out, Jesmond Dene is perfect, offering wooded areas, nature trails, a pet’s corner and picnic areas. You’ll even find a waterfall! 

You can enjoy a leisurely stroll through nature, or spend the day unwinding on a blanket either with friends or a good book. Peaceful and charming, Jesmond Dene is the green heart of the district from which it gets its name. 

2. Visit Osborne Road

The home of social gathering, Osborne Road provides a vibrant street of bars to help you prepare for your weekend. It’s very popular with students and young adults as it provides live entertainment, restaurants and bars to suit anyone’s taste. Bars include: Spy Bar, Jam Jar and Osbornes. If you’re looking for a casual drink on a Friday night or somewhere to watch live sports, Osbourne Road is the place to be!

3. Eat at any number of restaurants

Jesmond is known for its fantastic selection of restaurants. 

Some of our favourite eateries include Branches, a fine dining restaurant great for celebrating or fulfilling your Sunday lunch cravings. Fat Hippo is a well-known spot grabbing a juicy burger and fries! As You Like It is a popular choice with a range of food from Thai, steaks or salads. The restaurant also provides Sunday lunch, light bites, a kids menu and a range of wine!

4. Go shopping

The Pottery Experience in Jesmond is the perfect date or day out with friends. You can choose between painting some ready-made pottery or making your own from scratch. If you choose the latter, you’ll be guided on how to use a pottery wheel before crafting your own. You even get to come back a few weeks later and paint it – turning it into two days out! 

7. Enjoy the Jesmond Food Market 

On the first and third Saturday of every month you’ll find Jesmond Food Market stretching across the picturesque Armstrong Bridge. 

The market runs from 10am-3pm and is bursting with Jesmond’s best local produce and a variety of delicious vendors.
