For the time being, your home is likely to be floor to ceiling Christmas decorations. However, if you’re a stickler for tradition, any sign of Christmas will be long gone and forgotten by the 5th January. This begs us to question, how should we be decorating our home in this dark winter interim period before spring sets in?
We’ve outlined some of the top winter trends to get us through to the spring-cleaning season:
Cosy Knits
Whether you incorporate chunky cable knit throws at the end of your bed or the corner of the sofa, this will make a bold statement, and also keep you warm when the nights draw in cold.
A touch of tartan
A tartan wallpaper certainly isn’t for the faint hearted, so if you’re brave enough then it can create a great statement in your front room. However, if you just want to give this trend a try, a carefully placed tartan scatter cushion, and tartan curtains will still give your home a warm country pub vibe.
Go bold
Make a real statement in your home with peacock blue and deep purple walls, or if you’re not feeling that brave, a statement sofa. These colours are meant to be dramatic but create and equally comforting mood in the home.
Handmade accessories
Shopping for accessories in the home that are handmade is not only good for the environment, but you will be supporting the local economy whilst having a totally unique product. Why not try handmade ceramics for your kitchen?
Sustainability
Being more environmentally friendly and having a greener home is becoming increasingly important. So when thinking about decorating your home, you could try to incorporate energy saving bulbs into all of your lights, start a compost pile, improve your insulation and better still, install solar panels ready for that upcoming summer sunshine.
